The thumb saddle joint orthesis immobilizes the metacarp-phalangeal (MCP) and saddle (CMC) joints of the thumb. It is especially designed for saddle (CMC) joint arthroses, distorsions, postfracture stages of the thumb, and after surgery done to this region even as a night splint (Forte version). It is worn by putting the thumb in the prefabricated splint then shaping the splint to the thumb with gentle pressure. The ring should close around the thumb. The bandage is then fastened around the wrist by starting at the back of the hand. Splint removal is easy. The strip on the thumb does not have to be opened. The thumb can be pulled out and put back into fixation later on.
