DIVI23:Congress of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care & Emergency Medicine

Dear colleagues from all areas of intensive care and emergency medicine,

On behalf of the entire Presidium of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI), I would like to warmly invite you to our congress at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), which will take place from November 29th to December 1st, 2023.

“Strengthening interdisciplinarity – living multiprofessionalism!”

The DIVI is an interdisciplinary association of professional associations, scientific societies and individual members from the medical profession and the health professions to form a common scientific society. Interdisciplinarity and multi-professionalism therefore represent fundamental pillars of DIVI's self-image. Last but not least, the SARS-CoV2 pandemic has clearly shown us all the importance that must be attached to a way of thinking and working across disciplines and professional groups, which is demonstrated by DIVI is significantly embodied. No other specialist society has been more at the center of public interest during the years of the pandemic and has had a more lasting impact on intensive care medicine than DIVI. For example, the interdisciplinary DIVI intensive care register was launched in spring 2020, which to this day makes the capacities of every intensive care unit with acute care available, directs patient flows and allows bottlenecks to be identified at an early stage. In line with this, DIVI delegates were involved in compiling the catalog of criteria for strategic patient transfers in the cloverleaf concept, have significantly shaped the current guidelines for the treatment of inpatient COVID-19 patients or are part of the federal government's current Corona Expert Council. Due to its interdisciplinary and cross-professional focus, DIVI was and is a sought-after partner for all challenges in the healthcare sector. It is also dedicated to the problem of the nursing shortage, which has been significantly boosted, not least by the grueling months of the pandemic. Our multi-professional specialist society is therefore committed to creating professional prospects and improving working conditions in order to be able to put a stop to the already noticeable restrictions in (emergency) care for the population.

For the reasons mentioned above, it is particularly important to me to dedicate DIVI23 to interdisciplinarity and multi-professionalism and to once again bring these supporting pillars of DIVI to the attention of everyone. While the interdisciplinary character of the DIVI has always been taken into account by annually changing medical congress presidents from the individual specialist societies, with the establishment of a co-congress president from the field of health professions, a very strong signal is now being sent in the spirit of multi-professionalism and this is being actively practiced .

My special thanks go to the organizing committee, which is already actively involved in scheduling and designing the scientific program.
