a number of organisations around the world are launching special online educational
resources.

The World Health Organisation is offering a multitude of educational and training courses in multiple languages, including infection prevention and control (IPC) for novel coronavirus COVID-19 and introduction to emerging respiratory viruses, including novel coronavirus.
Australian Government Department of Health is offering a 30-minute online COVID-19
training
module for healthcare workers in all settings, from hospitals and primary
care to pharmacies and dental practices. It covers the fundamentals of
infection prevention and control for COVID-19.

Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH) has created a free e-learning programme in response to COVID-19, aimed at entire UK health and care workforce, including those working in the NHS, the independent sector and social care. The content currently includes topics such as infection prevention and control, critical care resources, invasive ventilation, and many more.
Researchers at Imperial College of London have partnered with Coursera to offer
a free courseScience Matters: Let’s talk about COVID-19,
explaining the science behind coronavirus. It features experts from Abdul Latif
Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics (J-IDEA) and the MRC
Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis (MRC
Centre).
The Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) in collaboration with
the University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) and the Société de Réanimation de
Langue Française (SRLF), has created a free online training course[COVID-19] Online training for hospital
staff, dedicated to the management
of patients with severe respiratory impairment related to CoV-2 SARS
(COVID-19).
The National Institutes of Health in the
U.S. has launched an educational website for workers
who are at greatest risk of exposure during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is aimed
at preventing and limiting exposure for high-risk professionals not only in
healthcare but also for firefighters, law enforcement officers and
environmental cleanup workers, as well as high-risk employees in custodial
service, food processing and delivery, water and sewage treatment and sanitation.
There are resources from various colleges, universities and government agencies
created to deliver synchronised just-in-time web-based training across the
country. This is also supported by a number of COVID-19 safety trainers and
virtual safety advisors.
In another partnership with Coursera, John Hopkins University is starting on 31 March the Fighting COVID-19 with Epidemiology: A Johns Hopkins Teach-Out, “for anyone who has been curious about how we identify and measure outbreaks like the COVID-19 epidemic and wants to understand the epidemiology of these infections.”
In turn, American College of Healthcare Executives has made a list
of COVID-19 Resources from various organisations, including American
Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL),
American Medical Group Association (AMGA),
College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME)
and others.
IntelyCare is offering free virtual COVID-19 training course
for nursing professionals working in post-acute, rehab and long-term care
centers across the United States. The aim is to help healthcare workers to understand
the causes and transmission of the novel coronavirus, identify the risks, recognise
the clinical manifestations and adopt preventive measures.
Altura
Learning has produced a free training
video to explain the virus and symptoms of the disease, demonstrate hand
hygiene practices, application and removal of PPE and practical strategies to
help prepare and mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
A video by a critical care
specialist Roger Seheult illustrates a concise review of the essential skills
of mechanical ventilation.
Future Learn is offering a free
courseCOVID-19: Tackling the Novel Coronavirus
explaining what is COVID-19, how it spreads and what public health
measures are taken worldwide. The course is aimed at those working in or around
health, or anyone interested in the topic.
Relias is offering free access to relevant resources for healthcare
professionals and individuals, including Infection
Control for Healthcare Professionals and Personal Protective Equipment.
Until the
end of April 2020, Physiopedia (via its online learning platform at Physioplus)
is offering an online Coronavirus Disease Programme
for free. The aim of the courses is to provide a practicing
physiotherapist/physical therapist with the necessary knowledge, practices and
skills to deal with COVID-19 challenges.
