An effective vacuum pump evacuates air from the chamber and steam is repeatedly taken in and immediately pumped back out again. This means that there's no air in the chamber, in textiles, or in wrapped hollow-instruments at the beginning of sterilization that would prevent the sterilization's success. The Vacuklav 31B+ autoclave has a post vacuum that's fractionated to ensure effective drying, which is useful as a prerequisite when storing wrapped, sterilized materials long-term. Temperature and pressure are regulated and monitored by the device's sensors and microprocessor control, and high-quality water can be supplied automatically by an optional water filtration system.
