The Thermo Scientific* Heraeus Labofuge 300 is a small and inexpensive medical centrifuge with a swinging bucket rotor. It is primarily utilized by labs and medical practices that require low sample output. The centrifuge processes gel tubes and spins glass tubes and ordinary blood sample. In virus testing, gel tubes are commonly used. After taking a blood sample, these gel tubes should be spun immediately. After centrifugation, plasma is separated from the red blood cells with a gel layer. This layer prevents the two components from mixing and cause virus decomposition. Not like fixed angle rotors that cause contamination inside the gel tube, the swinging bucket rotor of the Heraeus Labofuge 300 centrifuges ensures that contamination will not occur by letting the gel barrier stick to the wall of the tube without any traces of plasma contamination.
