Invented for caloric testing, the Air Star device uses air to test the vestibular function through dry thermal examination. Air Star can preform tests when water is not available for use in the vestibular room or when irrigation cannot be preformed for medical reasons. Thus, the device has many practical purposes for which it can be utilized. Using flow rates, a VNG/ENG test battery, and air temperatures, this is a method that is proven to safely work. An otoscope uses a thermal sensor to insure the temperatures provided are accurately delivered. Therefore, the medical personnel can rest assured that the stimulus received by each ear is exactly the same one.
