In cases of stent restenosis caused by injury during the implantation of a stent, the Pantera Lux Drug releasing balloon can be deployed to the lesion site. Once at the site the balloon can be inflated for 30 seconds, allowing for the release of an anti-proliferative drug. The balloon can then be withdrawn allowing the drug (Paclitaxel) to penetrate into the artery wall, ultimately inhibiting the regrowth of the cells. Paclitaxel has been proven to be both safe and long lasting, even after a brief, single application it can have long-lasting results. The Pantera Lux coating technology allows the deflated balloon to have coating of pacliataxel, allowing for increased bio-availability. BIOTRONIK balloons have undergone rigorous testing to ensure that they are manufactured to the highest possible standards.
