Our Zoom On visits Denmark next, to feature Professor Lars Lönn, Consultant Interventional Radiologist and Professor of Vascular Surgery at the National Hospital in Copenhagen. Professor Lönn is a valued member of HealthManagement's Editorial Board.

We asked Professor Lönn our seven questions:

1. What are your key areas of interest and research?
Endvoascular research in general, and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in particular, and on top of that education and simulation development within the endovascular field.

2. What are the major challenges in your field?
Collaboration.

3. What is your top management tip?
Collaboration and listening.

4. What would you single out as a career highlight?
The first time our team saved a ruptured infected TEVAR patient, very young, still alive after 15 years....

5. If you had not chosen this career path you would have become a...?
Actor or guitar-player

6. What are your personal interests outside of work?
Besides being a workaholic, outdoor training, yoga, ecological sustainability, reading, philosophy.

7. Your favourite quote?
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free  (John 8:32).

Professor Lönn was born in Sweden, and gained his MD and PhD from the University of Gothenberg. He is qualified to practise in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Prior to moving to Denmark he worked as Senior Consultant Radiology Sahlgrenska Academy at University Hospital Sweden, Abdominal Imaging Radiology Department Endovascular Programme Developer and CEO Radiology Axess Akuten Private Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Currently, in addition to his Copenhagen appointment, he is a Consultant to the King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia  Simulation Center, Medical Director Mentice Inc, Medical Director Orzone Inc, European Consultant J&J Endovascular Radiology programme Europe and is a consultant for several life science companies. He is Editor for Acta Radiologica, an Editorial Board member for Journal of Endovascular Therapy (JEVT) and the Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery and is a referee for 10 international scientific journals. In addition he sits on the Board of the Swedish Research Council Radiology.

Professor Lönn actively participates in the radiology profession, as a member of the Vascular and Interventional Committee of the  European Society of Radiology, the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Radiology (CIRSE) Task force for Education, CIRSE Advisory Board, Vascular Committee Domain, European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and Educational Committee Course Director, European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS). He was Founder of the Annual Nordic Embolisation  Meeting in 2003, President of Seldinger Vascular Society SSVIR from 2006 until 2013, and was a local organiser for the CIRSE Annual Meetings in Gothenberg in 2002 and Copenhagen in 2008. He is on the board of the European Board of Interventional Radiology. His honours include the Mediel Nordic Vascular Prize Award in 2007

ProfessorLönnhas published more than 150 papers in national and international journals, in endovascular surgery, interventional radiology, vascular diseases, metabolism and virtual reality training. He is also the author of 10 other publications and 15 textbook chapters including the most recent edition of the Nordic standard medical textbook in Radiology and Swedish handbook in Endovascular work.
