Welcome back Dr. Elke Haest! This specialist doctor has been strengthening our Emergency Medicine service since November 1. Dr. Haest is no stranger to AZ Sint-Maria. She previously served as medical director for 8 years.
Dr. Elke Haest completed her medical training at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Afterwards he specialized as an anesthetist-emergency physician at the UZ Brussels. Dr. Elke Haest was the head doctor at AZ Sint-Maria for 8 years. After a short break, she is now returning to the Emergency Medicine department.
Every year we care for approximately 37,000 patients in the Emergency Medicine department. The MUG service also carries out approximately 1,400 interventions every year. That's an average of about 4 per day. In order to continue to meet the demand for care, Dr. Haest, together with the current medical staff, will be responsible for the further development of the Emergency Medicine service.
