The device is useful for draining fluid from the pericardial sac. It makes controlled, atraumatic catheter introduction easy with standard percutaneous entry (Seldinger) technique. The catheter is composed of radiopaque polyurethane. The hub of the needle is connected with an “alligator clip” cable to keep constant record of electrocardiography during needle insertion.
