Both the Ultra Veress Insufflation Needle and the ENDOPATH® Pneumoneedle Insufflation Needle are insufflation needles. They have a blunt-stylet safety technique, loaded with a spring. This accounts for setting up of pneumoperitoneum, which is carried out before abdominal endoscopy. At its proximal end, the device has a stainless steel needle of 14-gauge, fixed to a plastic handle. Abdominal cavity is insufflated, owing to the comfort handles that comprise of a Luer lock connector and a stopcock. The spring-loaded blunt stylet accommodates in the needle sleeve and expands beyond the tip of the needle. As the needle is injected into the abdominal tissue, it retreats. Penetration of the peritoneum leads to its automatic progress in forward direction.
