These cook spectrum catheters are used for the intravenous administration chemotherapeutic agents, nutrient-rich fluids, and therapeutic drugs. They also have use in blood sampling, delivery, and venous pressure monitoring. There is a Peel-Away sheath that is designed to allow percutaneous introduction of the silicone catheter. The device also comes with a venous-bezel echogenic needle (21 gage) and color-coded hubs that allow for combination therapies in multi-lumen catheters. To help provide protection against CRBSIs, the catheters are impregnated with antibiotics such as rifampin and minocycline. Additional features include suture wings that provide secure fixation, a synthetic-fiber cuff, and supplied sterile in peel-open packages (for one time use).
