The Vitatron transvenous implantable leads are built to be used in conjunction with pulse generators in a cardiac placing system. When the leads are implanted, they form a low resistance path to the myocardium hence it is best to use only battery operated equipment during testing and lead implantation. It is important to ground the line powered equipment especially when a patient is around. Moreover, it is important to insulate the lead connector pins to prevent from any leakage currents that may result from the lone powered equipment. As a safety precaution, it is best to avoid steroid eluting leads especially in patients with a single dose.
