Sectra Solution for New Zealand's Breast Screening Programme

Sectra has announced that it will deliver a centralised PACS and vendor neutral archiving solution (VNA) for digital mammography throughout  New Zealand.

The national breast screening programme in New Zealand, BreastScreen Aotearoa, is establishing a centralised electronic picture archiving and communications system (PACS) that can store and transmit digital mammography images.

A centrally shared image and archiving solution will support better future collaboration and information sharing among Breast Screening providers across the country.

Breast screening services are provided by eight lead providers throughout New Zealand, performing approximately 250,000 examinations per year.

“Increased cost pressure in the healthcare sector has resulted in intensified demand for consolidated IT solutions, including image management. We have long experience of delivering these types of solutions, which is evidenced by this agreement,” says Jan Wolffram, responsible for Sectra in Australia and New Zealand.
