The Calcar Replacement Stem is a cemented femoral stem manufactured from stainless steel with a high nitrogen content (M30NW). Its entire surface is highly polished. Indications for the calcar replacement Stem are all fractures of the trochanteric region. It facilitates reattachment of the greater trochanter while providing adequate initial stability which allows early weight bearing. The two large holes in the proximal section of the stem allow insertion of wires and, where necessary, insertion of a cancellous bone graft. Its highly polished thin offset neck provides good stability, reduces the potential for dislocation, and results in increased range of motion.
