Diagnostic of swallowing after stroke VIMED® TELENDO The diagnostic of swallowing (dysphagia) is one of the most important diagnostic procedures in neurology. Dysphagia indicates disturbances occurred during the swallowing process. The swallowing disorders have different causes, in which the neurogenic disorder (e.g. by stroke patients) is the most common cause of dysphagia. The current state of knowledge shows, that it is one of the most common causes of death after stroke incidents. The medical system VIMED® TELENDO supports optimal the diagnostics of neurological caused swallowing disturbances. It consists of two components: an endoscopic unit and a memory as well as display unit. The endoscope unit consists of a handgrip with control elements as well as a probe with a camera and lighting system. The particularly fine probe with a high resolution video camera allows the fatigue-free examination of the nose, pharynx and larynx. Thanks to the smart video presets camera settings and white balance are unnecessary. The associated MEDIAWORKSTATION (MWS) software as the display and storage unit provides an easy management of the findings data. The medical software allows finding, evaluation and management of the recorded images and entered patient data. The high quality of the video and freeze image allows the reproduction of natural movements. Thanks to the various tools of VIMED® TELENDO for processing and transmission of medical images, the evaluation of the sample material is intuitive.
