General Purpose Sling Item # 550 (62ht, 85sw, 103hip) This General Purpose Sling is easy to use and will be suitable for a variety of lifting hoists. Place the back of the sling behind the patient’s back so the bottom of the sling is next to the coccyx area. The stitches in the middle of the sling should be parallel with the patient’s spine. The leg sections should go under the patient’s legs with the webbing from one leg section threaded through the loop on the opposite leg webbing. See also the other Pelican Lifting Sling designs. Washing: Hand or machine wash, up to 80°C. Do not tumble dry or wring. Air dry in shade only. Inspect frequently for signs of wear. All Day Slings A new trend in Patient Lifting Slings is for a very thin but strong material compared to the traditional materials that have been used for slings. The advantage of the thin material is that the sling can be left under a patient when they are sitting in a chair. This is to save the time and trauma for the patient, when the sling is removed and then re-placed under them to lift them out of the chair. This type of sling is commonly called an ‘All Day Sling’. Being made from such a thin material there is less chance of a crease under the patient when they are sitting in the sling which could affect Pressure Care.
