PerkinElmer has acquired Dexela Limited, a manufacturer of flat panel Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) X-ray detection technologies and services. Dexela develops and commercializes its CMOS technology portfolio, which includes hardware and software offerings for fast, low-dose X-ray imaging. The acquisition complements and expands PerkinElmer’s current amorphous silicon (a-Si) based Digital X-ray Flat Panel Detector (FPD) technology in key areas including surgery, dental, cardiology, and mammography, as well as non-destructive testing (NDT). With the addition of the CMOS technology to the PerkinElmer’s imaging portfolio, customers will now be able to choose seamlessly between two complementary Flat Panel X-ray Detector technologies to optimize their system performance and meet their specific application needs. In addition to its CMOS X-ray detection units, Dexela technologies and services include its Dexela Mammography Workstation, the DexView Image Processing Software, its 3D Reconstruction Engine Software, and Consulting and Implementation Services.
