The Swedish county council of Blekinge is extending the functionality of its existing radiology image management system (PACS) from Sectra to also include handling of non-radiology imaging. Consolidation of image handling across multiple departments enables healthcare professionals to gain a more complete patient overview. In addition, broader utilization of a single solution saves money in healthcare IT.

The agreement is an extension of an existing contract and will provide Blekinge county council with an enterprise image management solution including a medical multi-media archive, Sectra VNA. The previous contract included IT solutions for patient information and management of medical images, Sectra RIS and PACS. Blekinge county council has been a Sectra customer since the mid-1990s.

“Sectra’s enterprise image management platform enables healthcare providers that already have a stable archive for radiology images to conveniently expand that existing infrastructure to also capture, store and share other types of medical images. Having medical images in the same system increases efficiency for the IT department and facilitates collaboration across disciplines,” says Marie Ekström Trägårdh, President at Sectra Imaging IT Solutions.
