Aspect Imaging, the world leading developer of compact high-performance magnets, has unveiled a complete line of compact MRI systems for pre-clinical and industrial applications. The four "M"-series compact MRI systems include new models for:
 pre-clinical imaging of multiple species
performing 3D MR-based Histology analysis for toxicology research  performing industrial applications including real-time rheology analysis.

The Aspect Imaging compact MRI platform, unlike conventional high-field MRI systems, does not require a shielded room, cryogens, or high-capacity electrical power. The "M"-series platform features an innovative self-shielded, permanent magnet that can be placed in most settings as it does not require special infrastructure. It thus provides the researcher or clinician with the power of MRI at a fraction of the cost and without the complexity of conventional MRI.

Wrist Imaging MRI System

The company has also announced that they have received FDA clearance for their compact, high-performance M2™ Compact MRI System for  imaging of the wrist. The system features an innovative 1 Tesla, self-shielded, permanent magnet.

Uri Rapoport, Aspect Imaging's Founder and CEO, said, "We have had significant interest globally from clinicians for our system because of its ease of use, its ease of installation without the need for a specific dedicated facility, and the system's high-quality images and simple workflow. With this FDA clearance, we will begin to provide this system to clinicians interested in diagnostic-quality imaging of the wrist in an affordable, flexible product at a fraction of the cost of existing clinical MRI systems".

Aspect expects to begin commercialisation of the instrument in the summer 2013 and plans to run clinical studies at multiple sites.
