Radiology Asia, the region’s only bi-annual conference bringing together medical imaging professionals, healthcare providers, equipment manufacturers, medical academics and scientist communities in the radiology field in South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, will address the rising need for a value-based approach through appropriate utilisation of services.

Jointly organised by SingEx Exhibitions, the Singapore Radiological Society (celebrating its 40th anniversary this year) and College of Radiologists Singapore, and held in conjunction with the Singapore Congress of Radiology (26th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Singapore Radiological Society and College of Radiologists Singapore), the 2-day conference from 19 – 20 May 2017 at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO will focus on how practitioners in the medical imaging profession may optimise imaging resources, and deliver better value by contributing to improved medical outcomes.

Themed “Bringing state-of-the-art imaging into clinical practice”, the conference is anticipated to attract close to 800 delegates from all over the world, featuring 50 renowned speakers, 8 workshops, 4 conference tracks covering more than 70 topics, while providing open business platforms for sharing and networking.

Conference Highlights

THE FUTURE OF RADIOLOGY – HYBRID IMAGING TECHNOLOGY THROUGH PET-MRI SCANS IN DEMENTIA

As medical therapies advance, earlier and more accurate methods of non-invasive diagnosis through imaging have become even more important. One such example is hybrid imaging combining positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Such methods extract the complementary strengths of anatomic depiction by MRI, with tissue function characteristic assessment by PET.

PET-MRI will be among the various advanced imaging modalities that are covered in the Radiology Asia neuro-imaging conference track in which diagnosis of important diseases like dementia and stroke are covered. In the midst of these discussions, delegates will learn from renowned international experts on the role imaging plays in current clinical practice, and become better equipped to appropriately use imaging technology in their daily work. These are in line with the broader goals of value-based practice, where better health outcomes are the ultimate goal of medical treatments.

THE CENTS OF IMAGING – INAUGURAL CONFERENCE TRACK

A unique conference track entitled “Making Cents of Imaging” directly addressing commercial leaders and imaging equipment vendors in the radiology practice will be introduced at the conference for the first time, where industry trends, technological advances and professional challenges will form part of a suite of wide-ranging business topics that will be covered.

Speakers and moderators comprised of healthcare industry and Radiology leaders from Singapore and other parts of Asia will discuss topics surrounding the business of Radiology in the region, as well as how the practice should adapt to meet future demand for Radiology as a diagnostic service, by employing disruptive technological advancements to increase productivity, through the use of teleradiology and more recently, artificial intelligence.

WORKSHOPS IN INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY IN SINGAPORE

Alongside the conference, WIRES (Workshops in Interventional Radiology Education in Singapore) will be another important knowledge-sharing platform featured at Radiology Asia 2017.

WIRES will feature one scientific session comprising four conference topics, a lunch symposium jointly held with APSCVIR (Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology) and four wide-ranging interventional focused workshops that pertain to new and novel methods of minimally invasive treatment of acute ischaemic stroke, aortic disease, and tumour ablation.

Register before normal rates ends on 28 April 2017

Workshops in Interventional Radiology Education in Singapore (WIRES)
Non WIRES Workshops
Acute Ischaemic Stroke
8.30am to 5.00pm, Opal Room

This workshop will focus on several aspects of management of AIS with focus on multidisciplinary participation, patient selection, organization of workflow, stroke imaging and revascularization with a focus on mechanical thrombectomy.
Fundamental of Clinical MRI Workshop
8.30am - 12.30pm, Opal 106

This course is designed for radiologists (including residents and fellows), clinicians, and radiographers wanting a refresher course in MR physics. During the course, experts from ISMRM will present to you the introduction to the physics of MR imaging and how to clinically apply it. The course will be conducted in formal lectures sessions. No prior knowledge of MR physics is required for the course. Those with prior MRI knowledge and experience will also likely gain from the course.
The Transradial Approach for the Interventional Radiologist
8.30am - 12.30pm, Opal 105

Sign up for Singapore’s first workshop on the TRANSRADIAL (TR) approach for the Interventional Radiologist. This is a half day workshop offering didactic lectures with a hands-on session on the management and treatment of patients using a TR arterial access approach. The first half of the workshop will focus on basics of starting TR access practice and avoiding and managing potential complications. The hands-on component will include an introduction to the equipment used in transradial interventions. The second half of the workshop will focus on embolotherapy with presentations of interesting TR cases.
Advanced Body Imaging Workshop
1.00pm - 6.45pm, Opal 105

This workshop is primarily designed for radiologists (including residents and fellows) and physicians with an interest in body imaging. Several MRI topics will be covered by three world-renowned educators during the workshop including: liver elastography, focal liver lesions, rectal cancer and pancreatic imaging. Each session of the workshop will include a short lecture followed by an interactive case review module. Participants will be provided tablets to view the MRI examinations.
Endovascular Aortic Repair
1.30pm - 5.30pm, Opal 106

This is an introductory course for interventional radiology trainees who wish to gain an understanding of basic concepts of endovascular aortic repair and its practice. The course participant will be introduced to the more common diagnoses of the abnormal aorta and how to decide if a case is suitable for an endovascular repair. They will be taught about measuring and sizing for a basic standard EVAR case as well as its deployment technique.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop
8.00am - 5.00pm, 2 Opal

The ability to perform diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound is a useful tool in the practice of sonography, musculoskeletal as well as general radiology. We aim to equip participants with the basic skills required to perform studies of the major joints of the body.
The course will provide an overview of basic principles, display normal anatomy and commonly encountered pathology through didactic lectures. This will be augmented with demonstration of ultrasound techniques in real time and hands-on sessions with live models where participants will have the opportunity to interact with our instructors in a small group setting.

Advance Liver Ultrasound with Ablation and Kupffer Cell Imaging
1.30pm - 5.30pm, Room ???

This workshop will focus on the use of Sonazoid in lesional characterization and in your ablation practice. These will be exemplified with various cases discussed during the workshop. In addition, there will be sessions in fusion imaging techniques as well as Doppler/contrast enhanced ultrasound in post-liver transplant imaging. The technical aspects of these advance liver imaging techniques will be discussed as well.
American Institute of Radiologic Pathology (AIRP Singapore Course)
8.30am - 4.30pm, Room ???

The American Institute of Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) course (attended by 95% of US radiology residents) provides a pathophysiologic understanding of disease as the basis for radiologic interpretation. AIRP faculty also run body system specific international courses for radiologists who cannot attend the US course.
For the 2017 AIRP Singapore Course, we are privileged to have Professor Jeffrey R. Galvin, who holds professorships in both Radiology and Internal Medicine, to speak on thoracic imaging.
