What is Emergency Medicine?

Resulting from the merger between the French-speaking Society of Emergency Medicine and Samu-Urgences de France in 2006, the French Society of Emergency Medicine (SFMU) is a learned society which brings together all the French-speaking players in care and emergency medicine: doctors, nurses, caregivers, social workers, psychologists, medical regulation assistants, ambulance drivers.

The SFMU, bringing together more than 3,000 member practitioners , aims to promote care and Emergency Medicine. Organized around a Board of Directors and 8 commissions, it aims to initiate, support and accompany any action linked to the evolution of this specialty, but also to the development of training and medical research.
