Target Audience

This activity is designed for to all practitioners at any level that are involved with the care of surgical patients and enhanced recovery after surgery.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize improved results from centers that have formally implemented enhanced recovery protocols based on international guidelines.
  • Identify which elements of enhanced recovery guidelines they are already incorporating in their practice, and which can be improved.
  • Comprehend recommendations for improving patient education.
  • Propose protocols for additional surgical procedures at their facility.
  • Apply recommendations regarding auditing processes and outcomes, including patient reported outcomes.

Activity Goal

This activity is designed to address the following core and team competencies:
