During the 1980s, Rotec manufactured orthopedics for Depuy, as well as tracheostomy collars. In 1992, Depuy decided to buy Rotec for its orthopedic products. Since manufacturing tracheostomy collars did not fit with Depuy's product lines, it was spun off as an independent company: Marpac.John Rockwell, a veteran of the Air Force, bought Marpac in 1996, and is currently the sole owner and President of Marpac. Marpac (a small, veteran-owned business) has continued to work closely with the respiratory community to develop products that improve patient care and are easy for registered respiratory therapists to use.
