Paul De Raeve has been part of European Commission for 20 years and has been given a new role as Open Research Collection Advisor. In 2002, Paul De Raeve was appointed as General Secretary of the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN). EFN activities relate to the promotion and protection of nurses and the nursing profession with reference to the EU and Europe. In his quest for this mission, he ensured nursing was deemed central in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the European Health Policy, in the field of education, workforce, and quality and safety. De Raeve believes outcomes are achieved in partnership with health providers, patient organisations, civil society and other European stakeholders.


In 2014, Paul De Raeve became coordinator of ENS4Care, a European Thematic Network focusing on evidence-based guidelines for e-services in healthcare. More Erasmus+ and H2020 became part of EFN end-user co-dosing approach. The EFN Secretary General was appointed by the EFN members as Secretary General of the European Nursing Research Foundation (ENRF) to make sure EU policy design and research evidence go hand in hand.
