A significant healthcare event is coming to Luxembourg with the inaugural "Healthcare Week Luxembourg" taking place from September 20 to 22, 2023. Positioned in the heart of Europe and the "Greater Region" with over 11.7 million inhabitants, Luxembourg is constantly evolving its healthcare sector to meet the needs of patients while facing various challenges related to cross-border cooperation, culture, society, economy, and politics.

In order to adapt to advances in medical science and technology, changing patient expectations, and budgetary constraints, there is a need to constantly reassess healthcare activities. The complex and unpredictable environment, coupled with the involvement of numerous stakeholders, necessitates regular and structured exchanges. The primary goal should be the continuous and effective improvement of the health system for the benefit of citizens and patients.

While France has SANTEXPO and Germany has MEDICA as multidisciplinary events for healthcare exchanges, there is currently no similar platform in the SAAR-LOR-LUX-WALLONIE regions. To address this, the "Fédération des Hôpitaux Luxembourgeois" (FHL) and the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB), in collaboration with event organization company "Quinze Mai," have initiated a project to establish a large-scale exchange platform in Luxembourg for all healthcare stakeholders.

The event will cover a wide range of current and future topics, including medical advances, digitalization, technological developments, research, innovation, human capital development, organizational and cultural innovation, quality management, communication, ethics, health data sharing and protection, and the future financing of healthcare systems. These subjects will be addressed through conferences, seminars, panels, exhibitions, workshops, and Agoras. Admission to the event will be free for visitors.

The program will give special attention to the following topics, which will be explored through numerous lectures:

  • Challenges faced by health systems
  • Future quality systems and the role of patients
  • Innovation and new technologies
  • The role of research and education
  • Future governance models for health systems

By delving into these subjects and providing opportunities for engagement with experts, Healthcare Week Luxembourg aims to be the culmination of extensive reflection, with the objective of further improving an efficient, sustainable, and patient-centric healthcare sector. The event will facilitate cooperation among stakeholders in the "Greater Region" within a broader European context, establishing its significance as a major platform for international exchange.

The "European Association of Hospital Managers" (EAHM) will play a role in the event, including the presentation of the third edition of the "EAHM Innovation Awards," recognizing the best innovative projects in hospital management in Europe and neighboring countries. Additionally, prizes will be awarded to outstanding research projects in the "Greater Region" and ambitious projects presented by startups.
