The Shirley Wound Drain is a vented, double-lumen drainage tube designed to quickly aspirate the contents of a fresh surgical wound. It is engineered to remove the blood oozing from the walls of the wound cavity before that blood can clot. In operation, bubbling up the tube confirms that it has not become blocked, and is still working.
