Double effect chillers are used to provide comfort cooling to large applications such as hospitals, office buildings, light industries, manufacturing facilities and universities which also uses centrifugal or screw chillers. In conventional vapor compression chiller and an absorption chiller, the refrigeration cycle is same for production of chilled water through the evaporation and condensation process of a refrigerant at different pressures occurring within the machine. But the conventional chiller compresses and transports the condenser through mechanical means where as an absorption chiller uses thermo chemical process with lithium bromide and water and creates a pressure difference using mechanical compression. Most of the vapor compression chillers use electricity as a source of energy for operation of the machine, the absorption chillers makes use of the heat which is typically in the form of hot water, steam or direct combustion of natural gas.
