The TGGE system is designed for optimal resolution in a small gel. The system is highly integrated and consists of an external controller and gradient electrophoresis unit. Optimization of temperature range as well as parallel analysis of several samples can be done in a short period of time. New protocols are quickly established and high serial output may be achieved. The TGGE MAXI system is the perfect instrument in investigating numerous samples in a parallel manner. Because of its large thermal block (20 x 20 cm), a long separation distance for analyzing complex sample mixtures is possible. The TGGE MAXI controller can control the MAXI electrophoresis unit. The TGGE principle is that DNA begins to melt upon migration through a temperature gradient. Once the DNA becomes single stranded partially, the sample slows down dramatically.
