The 28R14 hyperextension orthosis has been used successfully for years for the conservative therapy of stable vertebral body fractures of the lower thoracic and upper lumbar spine. A literature study commissioned by us investigated the conservative treatment of thoracolumbar transition fractures using hyperextension orthoses. It shows that the results of functional therapy of vertebral body fractures is described in the literature as very good to good in 80 to 90 percent of all cases, taking subjective complaints, mobility, and ability to work into account. In accordance with the three-point principle, supports in the thoracolumbar transition area and in the sternal and symphysis regions straighten the spine in the sagittal plane. Lordosing takes place at the same time, the ventral segments of the vertebral bodies are relieved, and your patient's pain is alleviated. The 28R14 hyperextension orthosis still allows for sideways tilt and rotation of the trunk. The orthosis consists of a symphysis support and a sternal support, which are attached to the ventral members. The height of the supports can be adjusted and locked in place individually. The entire ventral piece consists of a fully foam-covered aluminium core. This increases wearer comfort and fit to the body. Special, handy clip closures connect the base plate to a flexible waistband which is fixed to the dorsal lumbar support. They allow for easier donning and doffing. The closing aids make it easier to adjust the waist band correctly. The 28R14 is lightweight, water resistant, and has good hygienic properties.
