Recommended for : - Tubo-tympanic pathologies: Secretory otitis media, tubal dyspermeability, baratrauma of divers and airmen, tubo-tympanic diseases (retraction pockets, adhesive otitis, tubal deficiency after tympanoplastic surgery). - Sinusitis: Acute and chronic sinusitis, preparation of sinus and rhinopharynx microsurgery. The device combines three functions: - aerosol production, - emission of 100 Hz sound waves, - temporary application of an adjustable overpressure. These three functions automatically synchronized with the patient’s swallowing enable the medicinal aerosols to penetrate into the Eustachian tube (hearing tube). Simple to use. The patient has just to swallow when he wants to release overpressure. The value of the overpressure can be adjusted through a graduated knob from 15 mbar to 50 mbar. The value is mentioned on a mamometer and a safety valve stops the overpressure at 50 mbar. The optimum duration of a session is 10 minutes devided into two phases : * first phase of 2 minutes with only sound waves (detersion of the nasal mucosa followed by a blowing of the nose) * second phase of 8 minutes with temporary overpressure (10 swallowings separated by at least 30 seconds) Significant results : In spa, ESTEVE & coll. (1990) noticed 71,6% of good and very good results with 57 children from age 3 to 15. In a multicentral study (1991) with 81 patients, DUBREUIL, GUILLERM, BADRE, BUFFE, LORY, OLIVA, BRE,noticed a disappearing of all symptoms in 21 cases and a clinical improvement in 68 cases (seromucous otitis, tubal dyspermeability, retraction pockets).
