The Nicolet Cortical Stimulator is the newest innovation in EEG monitoring and Functional Brain Mapping. It can identify the critical structures of the brain, resulting in better functionality when doing brain mapping inside the operating room or in epilepsy monitoring units during surgical workups or brain tumor resections. It interacts with the NicoletOne™ EEG system to offer advanced software features like auditing all stimulation parameters as well as auditing stimulated locations. It also has a visual display of the results of the procedure. The automated report provides results to the medical record efficiently. The cortical stimulator delivers bi-phasic and constant current trains of stimulation pulses. It can be used as a standalone unit or with the Nicolet Disposable Bipolar Probe or with intracranial electrodes. The pulse frequency, current level, and pulse duratoin can be configured by the user. A single stimulus pulse and continuous mode is also available. The stimulator displays the actual current it delivers. It assures the safety of the patient by monitoring error detection continuously.
