The Bedfont Scientific piCO+ Smokerlyzer is a low-cost, hand-held carbon monoxide monitor, used to measure levels of carbon monoxide in the breath for the purpose of helping to motivate smokers to stop smoking. It is an accurate, easy to use device. The effectiveness of the piCO+ has been clinically proven. It can be particularly effective when used in conjunction with group therapy programs and other stop-smoking help programs. It can be used by adults and adolescents alike. One of the advantages of using a monitor, particularly one in which test results can be stored, is that self-reporting methods of stop-smoking attempts tend to be unreliable.
