Synapse PACS offers modern visualization solution and was fully developed by Fujifilm, and is considered the economical choice today. Prior to the development of PACS by Fujifilm, most makers were only modifying pre-existing technologies. Through the observation of new trends in health care, major problems were sighted. One example was the linking of hospitals into delivery networks and the joining of forces into groups. This made the task of replacing all the existing information systems extremely expensive and almost impossible. To complicate matters hospitals are heavily dependent on private Radiology Groups for the reading of their studies, and these reading would vary from facility to facility. The ideal system would have to put up large structures with different systems for RIS and HIS so as to accommodate different radiology groups. Synapse was the first PACS to achieve exceptional degree of functionality for single and multi-site PACS.
