From version 3.x, the dicomPACS®DX-R software can be remote controlled by means of Smartphones, iPods or a different Tablet computer. An interesting use is taking X-ray images of horses, for instance. All the necessary functions are now available on an iPod, for example, so the X-ray image may be evaluated directly at the horse without the inconvenience of having to walk to the Leonardo DR mini suitcase. The iPod is attached to the arm or directly to the X-ray unit. This allows very fast and convenient workflow. Other areas of use include small animal veterinary services or emergency medical care. Once the X-ray has been taken, the image can be checked immediately with the new app no need to walk to the suitcase. If another image has to be taken, the process can be repeated without delay. Fast image monitoring will not only reduce the users subsequent amount of work but also alleviate the horses stress. The app by OR Technology is supported by functions such as status indication, adding photos to the current study and the possibility to plan examinations as wanted.
