Boston Scientific's FilterWire EZ Embolic Protection System is specifically designed for use during procedures involving carotid arteries. The FilterWire System. with its 110 micron filtering capability, enables continuous blood flow while at the same time providing a highly efficient and effective embolic capture function. The System provides 360 degree apposition whether it is operating in a relatively straight or in a tortuous anatomy. The Radioplaque loop and tip make tracking easy, and enables the location of the Protection System as well as its final placement to be verified using standard angiographic monitoring techniques. The tapered nose cone and silicon coated tip make entry smooth and lesion crossing problem free. Retrieval is also a straightforward process. The retrieval sheath provides maximum coverage as it is being withdrawn through a deployed stent.
