True Colours is a holistic, multidisciplinary clinic and provides person-centred, safe, quality, and inclusive gender affirming care and treatment to the TGD population aged 16-25 years of age. The clinic works alongside community and consumers to provide safe, affirming, person-centred inclusive care. This position is suitable for a Senior Clinical Psychologist with experience working with young people aged 16- 25 (AYA) and/or trans and gender diverse clients.

True Colours will provide a high-quality clinical service to clients/consumers and their families/carers to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. This position works in a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, and allied health, and peer workers to address clients' often complex mental health, medical and psychosocial needs.

The purpose of the position is to provide high quality psychological assessment and interventions for adolescent and young adult (AYA) clients who are transgender and gender diverse. Supporting comprehensive assessment, short-term psychotherapeutic management, and recommendations within an outpatient clinic model. It is a multidisciplinary team based position requiring liaison and consultation with different disciplines (including Psychiatry, Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Peer) within the service, as well as with external stakeholders.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with young people and their families +/- experience working with transgender and gender diverse people.
  • Capacity to design and implement short to medium term individual treatment protocols for transgender and gender diverse young people.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven application of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  • Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a health setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research.
