Responsibilities

The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator routinely books surgical cases for pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients for the OR andthe G.I. Lab. Coordinates and confirms the acquisition of services, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors forscheduled surgeries. Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel. Checks, entersand reconciles the daily patient charges. Prepares and distributes the monthly surgical statistics. Updates the Surgery Schedules andcompletes the required Log Book. Answers phones and appropriately communicates messages. Assists OR Director and Charge Nurse withadditional clerical duties. Works with coworkers, other departments and outside companies, assisting with the provision of safe, efficientand quality patient care.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Previous experience in a Medical Care Setting.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Strong clerical and computer skills.
  • Command of the English language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in the OR preferred.

Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $17.74 to $22.14. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
