This exciting permanent post is an excellent opportunity to work in a new 3 bedded Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) within our Critical Care services. The PACU will care for post operative patients who require closer monitoring of observations, pain management and fluid balance. It is based within the Critical Care template and you will be expected to work alongside surgeons and anaesthetic staff. Patients will generally be transferred from PACU back to the surgical ward each morning. Please note that you do not need theatre experience for this post, but experience of Critical Care or Surgery would be useful. A full competency package will be provided by our Critical Care Nurse Educator.
Main duties of the job
Job Summary / Job Purpose: Demonstrates advanced specialist practice, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients throughout the pre-operative / immediate post-operative and PACU pathway. Responsible for the quality of care delivered within the clinical area, empowering and enabling the peri-operative / post-operative team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
