Position Summary

GlobalSTL, an initiative of BioSTL, is seeking driven, resourceful candidates in a Healthcare Business Development Associate role to join our mission of transforming the model of health care delivery and improving the health and economic vitality of our region. This position will report to the GlobalSTL Healthcare Business Development Director and will be a full-time, salaried position with BioSTL.

 

Job Responsibilities

GlobalSTL attracts to St. Louis the U.S. presence of innovative, high-growth companies from around the world. On the GlobalSTL Healthcare Team, we do this by creating strategic connections to St. Louis' corporations, healthcare systems, and universities and convening their collective voice and buying power. This results in customer and partner relationships with innovators that advance the mission and health of our strategic partners and the communities we serve. In healthcare, GlobalSTL has built an unmatched consortium of over 18 health organizations across 5 Midwest states who combined revenues are in excess of $410 Billion (~ 10% of US Healthcare spending) and an international innovation sourcing platform across 15 countries. For this exciting, fast paced role, GlobalSTL is seeking high-potential candidates to leverage, build and lead GlobalSTL’s high performing Healthcare Business Development program to the next level.

 

As a member of the GlobalSTL team, the Healthcare Business Development Associate will actively participate in the following responsibilities:

· Grow the scale and impact of the business development program between companies being recruited and the GlobalSTL consortium of healthcare organizations nationally

· Help manage the administration of the GlobalSTL Healthcare program to identify, recruit and grow high-growth international and US companies to St. Louis in the healthcare industry

· Increase the strategic impact that GlobalSTL delivers in terms of business value and competitive advantage to our region’s healthcare organizations

· Increase the scale of the program by expanding membership of G-CHIL (GlobalSTL Community of Health Innovation Leaders) by adding new organizations and deepening relationships with existing organizations

· Lead the convening of healthcare industry leaders via periodic G-CHIL meetings facilitating meeting topics, speakers, and logistics

· Execute and grow the impact of the annual GlobalSTL Health Innovation Summit

· Support the GlobalSTL Innovation Advisory (GIA) including meeting logistics, contracts, and other duties as assigned

· Support marketing/branding campaigns in partnership with BioSTL Marketing Team

· Leverage GlobalSTL’s Salesforce-enabled CRM system

  • Improve the quality of life of our region through the deployment of digital health innovations sourced from top recruited companies, including impacting the quality of life for underserved communities
  • Help St. Louis, Midwest, and US healthcare organizations achieve more of their mission in improving the health and economic vitality of the regions they serve
  • Increase number of digital health companies engaging, via pilots and scaled implementations, with the G-CHIL consortium of healthcare partners and the number of those innovators establishing and/or growing a physical presence in St. Louis
  • Improve domestic and international brand of GlobalSTL as the go-to organization for digital health companies wanting to access Midwest customers
  • Increase jobs created and capital invested in the St. Louis region by GlobalSTL healthcare companies
  • Grow revenue and sustainability of the GlobalSTL program thru sponsorships, grants and new models for monetizing value provided to regional strategic partners and innovators

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience

  • Deep understanding of the US healthcare delivery system and the business models of healthcare providers, payers, integrated delivery networks, pharmacy benefit managers and employers
  • Demonstrated track record of selling or investing in innovative/disruptive products/services in complex healthcare industry
  • Experience working for both corporates and startups – important to understand the differing perspectives/cultures/processes/strengths/weaknesses and be able to speak both languages
  • Demonstrated track record of conducting deep diligence of healthcare innovation and establishing value proposition for US healthcare players
  • Demonstrated passion for international business, people and culture; willingness to travel
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree, preferably in business management, healthcare administration, medicine or engineering

 

Location

Must reside in the in St. Louis region or be willing to relocate.

 

Skills

The ideal candidate will be a passionate self-starter with a strong background in healthcare and an interest in entrepreneurs and business development and can develop strong relationships. This individual builds networks and develops win-win solutions and can be persuasive and motiving to elicit cooperation and results. Past exposure to technical evaluations, due diligence on a variety of products and services, and intellectual property review among startups or commercial settings are highly desirable experiences for this role. An ideal candidate takes initiative to learn new skills and operates with curiosity to continuously improve current processes. They can adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines promptly. They align with our culture of accountability amid an overall diversity in assignments that demonstrate flexibility among the ability to manage a process, planning and organization skills, the ability to establish work plans, multi-task and prioritize simultaneous projects, negotiation skills, working knowledge of standard contract terms, and excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills to articulate complex business situations clearly and articulately with senior executives of diverse backgrounds (corporations, investors, entrepreneurs, researchers and governmental agencies) in a global setting.

Compensation
