Robotics & Digital Solutions is part of Ethicon, Inc. which is part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Global Marketing Director, Instruments and Accessories; Johnson & Johnson MedTech, located in Cincinnati, OH.

The Global Marketing Director, Instruments and Accessories; Johnson & Johnson MedTech, will lead a team and the collective execution of multiple projects through all phases of the new product development stage-gates and I&A launch excellence, individually, and as part of the OTTAVA System to help build and deliver Ethicon’s multi-quadrant surgical robotics system to markets, globally. Key activities include portfolio strategy and roadmap, holistic learning plan including market research and market / competitive intel, building the business cases with value propositions, working with development and cross functional partners to achieve milestones and drive go / no-go decisions as well as managing regional and external relationships in support of the OTTAVA System global launch.

 

Responsibilities Will Include, But Not Be Limited To

 

  • Co-lead (with cross functional leadership team) Instrument and Accessory (I&A) new product development strategy and projects to execute on the pipeline strategy
  • Co-lead (with cross functional leadership team) the development of key business deliverables including I&A volumes and value targets to meet GP expectations across the portfolio and as part of the OTTAVA System
  • Execute I&A portfolio strategy across reusable wristed instruments, stapling, advanced energy, adjuncts / specialty instruments and accessories, ensuring clear definition of what each product needs to do and deliver and who it is for (i.e., the intended target) including the target product profile with evidence generation strategy where appropriate.
  • Manage and support team of GSM project leads, working in close collaboration with overall system leads across capital, digital and visualization and OTTAVA GSM leadership team to drive one team culture and shared accountability.
  • Drive thorough understanding of the I&A market, competitive offerings for related instrument categories and portfolio working closely with the competitive and strategic insights teams
  • Ensure holistic learning plan and execution across the portfolio to ensure instrument and accessory features and functionality meet and/or exceed customer expectations and support the value proposition, to further refine segmentation, targeting and positioning for the instrument and surgical job category and pricing. Responsible for dissemination of key learnings across organizations and regions as needed.
  • Drive strong collaboration as needed with Front End Team and associated cross functional partners (R&D, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Human Factors, Pre-clinical, Clinical, and Medical (PCM), Business Development, etc.) to support continued innovation cadence
  • Lead the overall delivery of Support execution to ensure consistency of Ethicon brand strategy across product expression, naming, and all labeling
  • Drive creation of I&A communication strategy and assets in conjunction with OTTAVA strategic marketing in support of the differentiated portfolio to drive understanding across the organization, support on-going market enablement efforts and full launch.
  • Lead all related I&A strategic marketing and launch excellence strategy across a cadence of launches as key input into the holistic launch excellence process and commercial strategies for the OTTAVA System.
  • Support execution of marketing and commercial launch related activities for the OTTAVA System as needed
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

 

Required Skills And Experience

 

  • A minimum of 10 years of Marketing and / or sales experience in medical devices, or healthcare tech
  • A minimum of 2 years working in a development environment defining aspects of a market, product solution and / or target user
  • Medical technology or devices industry knowledge background
  • Outstanding analytics skills and ability to understand technically complex concepts
  • Ability to exercise judgment and appropriate risk taking
  • Ability to develop and manage and nurture customer relationships
  • Ability to manage and drive decisions at all levels of the organization
  • Have a strong track record of successful people management, building skills and leaders, galvanizing teams, and driving focus
  • Possess a strong ability to collaborate across boundaries (e.g., externally or with other J&J companies)

 

Preferred Skills And Experience

 

  • Experience in both upstream / front-end / NPD and downstream / brand / customer-facing roles in region
  • Experience in medical robotics marketing or sales
  • Commercially savvy with knowledge of cross-functional processes in R&D, Quality, Supply Chain

 

Other

 

  • This position will be based in Cincinnati, OH and may require up to 35% travel, including domestic and international.
