Head of Medical Affairs Oncology (m/f/x)

 

 

The position:

The Head of Medical Affairs Oncology (m/f/x) leads the development and execution of the European medical strategies for Daiichi-Sankyo’s Oncology Business Unit portfolio. Responsible for maximizing Daiichi Sankyo‘s value proposition of in-Market and pipeline products through development, management and delivery of medical and scientific activities in close, cross-functional collaboration ensuring an integrated approach towards an optimal customer experience. He/she is the key Daiichi Sankyo Europe expert to external and internal entities on medical and scientific issues related to Daiichi Sankyo’s products within his area of responsibility and ensures that all medical affairs activities are planned and conducted in an excellent and collaborative manner contributing to Daiichi-Sankyo's goals, and also is accountable/responsible for leading implementation and overseeing the execution of the KEE medical strategies.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Leads the European Medical Affairs Organization in the Oncology environments
  • Support and actively contributes to the overall organizations aspiration to deliver the best in market performance and new launches
  • Manages indirectly the European oncology medical affairs organizations in the countries
  • Integrates medical and scientific insight into regional and global strategies, plans and tactics
  • Plans and conducts medical and scientific activities according to all relevant rules, regulations and SOPs
  • Collaborate effectively and efficiently across functions and structures to provide medical-scientific input and judgment where appropriate including global committees (GOMA)
  • Co-develops affiliate guidance specifically on Medical Affairs topics in close cooperation with cross-functional international teams and lead/monitor the implementation
  • Drives management of KEE, professional societies and other key stakeholders
  • Establishes a close, effective and efficient network of external and internal contacts to monitor and influence the development of medical-scientific opinions and beliefs as well as medical practice
  • Function as primary expert Medical Affairs contact for affiliates and external experts/customers
  • Present and represent the established and newly developed evidence as well as Daiichi Sankyo medical-scientific concepts and beliefs with external and internal audiences
  • In close collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders, actively contributes to planning and execution of interventional and non-interventional studies to fully exploit the medical value of Daiichi Sankyo’s products
  • Actively represents DSE at Regional Joint Alliance Committees with Alliance Partner, stewarding Daiichi Sankyo in all medical aspects of the alliance including but not limited to data generation and data dissemination activities as well as external collaborations
  • Liaises directly and indirectly with the R&D organization to create and explore synergies in data generation and dissemination activities

 

Personal skills and professional experience:

  • We are looking for someone who has a Medical Degree, ideally additional training and board certification in Oncology
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience within the pharmaceutical, and minimum 5 years’ experience as a Medical Director
  • A proactive Medical Affairs professional and understand Medical Affairs as a function which is predominantly focused on patient access to our products is required
  • A thorough understanding the role of Medical affairs in cross functional delivery of the best customer experience
  • The values Integrity, Accountability and Team Work are integral part of the candidate professional attitude. You have excellent listening and communication skills
  • Candidate needs to be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English and one other European language
