Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will play a meaningful role in delivering against Amgen’s Commitment to transform the lives of patients and keep them at the center of everything we do.

The position will lead the development and execution of communications initiatives that support the general medicine priorities across Amgen’s Cardiovascular, Bone and Neuroscience brands, reaching key partners through impactful communications that elevate Amgen’s medicines and support patients suffering from serious and chronic diseases.

This role reports to the Cardiovascular Corporate Affairs lead.

  • Support, develop and execute the GenMed Corporate Affairs strategy across three brands, aiming to establish Amgen Cardiovascular and Amgen Bone as a distinct leader in their respective spaces.
  • Support a cross-functional approach to achievements, news flow and activity planning to effectively improve opportunities and prepare against issues.
  • Effectively develop and creatively use internal and external communications channels, including traditional and social media, working with Amgen’s Corporate teams (e.g. Internal Communications, Media Relations, Social Media and Content teams) as appropriate.
  • Support issues preparedness and crisis management to protect brand and company reputation. Identify issues and develop mitigation plans, including scenario planning, training for key internal partners and issues supervising.
  • Work closely with Legal, Regulatory and Medical on the review and approval of multiple materials/assets through internal review platform/channels.
  • Effectively lead and deploy agency support through clear objectives, KPIs, continued drive for excellence and innovation in support of the GenMed franchise.
  • Draft internal communications to amplify external activities and generate excitement among internal audiences

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Corporate Affairs experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Corporate Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight to ten years in a corporate and/or consultant communications or healthcare PR agency environment.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a complex organization.
  • Strong, senior-level knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or health care.
  • Ability to operate effectively on large cross-functional teams, as well as lead by influence and collaborate.
  • Strong experience in social and digital media, media relations and issues management.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to change and move projects forward quickly.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Collaboratively works well with a diverse group of people
  • Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands on delivery.
  • Experience in creating and translating scientific / technical content for a broad range of audiences.
