Professor Shafi Ahmed PhD FRCS

Surgeon, Teacher, Innovator, Entrepreneur and Futurist

Professor Shafi Ahmed is a world-renowned, multi-award-winning surgeon, teacher, futurist, innovator, entrepreneur, humanitarian, and international keynote speaker.

He has 30+ years of teaching experience. He is an honorary Professor of Practice at UCL Global Business School for Health and a Visiting Professor at Imperial College. He also teaches healthcare innovation at Stellenbosch Business School in South Africa and was previously faculty on the Harvard surgical leadership programme.

As a co-founder of various health tech initiatives, he has worked to revolutionise patient care and operational efficiency through Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and immersive technology. His commitment to combining innovation with compassion serves as a beacon for the future of global health, inspiring professionals across disciplines to embrace technology's limitless potential in improving healthcare delivery and outcomes.

Dr Kim Oosthuizen
Head of Artificial Intelligence
As the Head of AI, they support customer and partner enablement with AI innovation opportunities across processes and usability to enable an intelligent enterprise. With over 20 years of experience spanning South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia, they have held various operations, center of excellence, and technology roles throughout their career, gaining a well-rounded understanding of end-to-end business processes. They are passionate about evolving businesses digitally using intelligent applications, leveraging their business, technical, and financial acumen to assist customers in building organizations for the future.
An expert in the application of Artificial Intelligence in business, they hold both MBA and PhD degrees from Stellenbosch Business School. Their research has resulted in multiple academic publications exploring the integration of Artificial Intelligence into business. They are also the founder and leader of the SAP Partner AI Council of Australia, which focuses on unlocking opportunities and possibilities for the responsible adoption, operation, and scaling of AI across Australian industries.
