Rochester General Health System (Rochester, N.Y.) purchased CARESTREAM Vue for Cardiology to achieve greater efficiency through the integration of cardiology exams with its radiology PACS and its EMR.

“We selected Carestream’s Cardiology PACS because it offers excellent functionality and will integrate with both our radiology PACS and our EMR. Having an integrated solution will provide our clinicians with faster, easier access to patient information, which will allow us to provide the highest quality care to our patients,” said Amy Craib, Vice President of Cardiac Services, Rochester General Health System, Rochester, N.Y.

The hospital also plans to leverage its existing Vue Archive as a centralised repository for cardiology and radiology imaging studies. Vue Archive equips healthcare providers to create a single point of access for imaging exams, lab and pathology results, and other forms of patient data. A consolidated archive expedites clinical access to patient records while helping to reduce storage costs.

Carestream’s Web-based cardiology PACS offers review of echocardiography, cardiac cath and nuclear cardiology exams from any on-site or remote workstation or on Web-enabled devices such as the iPad. This streamlines reading and reporting for cardiology exams. Carestream’s platform also allows workstations to support review of both radiology and cardiology studies, which eliminates the cost of dedicated workstations. Echocardiography reports are simplified through the use of structured templates, pre-populated measurements and a single package for all echo procedures.
