The European Society of Radiology (ESR) announced that, owing to the spread of COVID-19, its annual congress will be held entirely online.
The ESR postponed it’s March European Congress of Radiology (ESC) because of the COVID-19 threat and, initially, postponed the Vienna event to July.

But, with Europe the epicentre of the disease, it has decided to move the congress entirely online. The event will be held July 15-19, 2020.
“It is with a heavy heart and much regret that the Board of Directors of the European Society of Radiology has decided not to hold an onsite European Congress of Radiology in 2020,” a statement said. “However, as a medical community, we have a social responsibility to our members, partners, staff and the general public.”
The body reminded delegates that public health authorities in Austria have restricted large meetings and enforced travel bans, with no official indication as to when these restrictions will be lifted.
The organisation will publish the ECR 2020 Book of Abstracts within the next few days in its journal Insights into Imaging.
Numerous healthcare congresses have canceled or postponed because of COVID-19.
