An agreement has been reached on a legal framework for the establishment of European research infrastructures. Currently, national and EU laws do not meet the needs of complex research infrastructures with par tners in many countries. Under the new legal framework, Member States wishing to host a European research infrastructure will have to declare in their application to the Commission that they recognise the new infrastructure as an international organisation.
