This meeting’s theme highlights how modern imaging not only has influenced diagnostics of urological pathologies, but also has become a helpful tool for intraoperative visualisation. The question if, or rather when, machine learning will start to reach levels of human performance is one of the developments that we might be confronted with in the near future!

The meeting’s aim is to address in which situations contemporary imaging methods are useful and what kind of standardisation of reporting of different urological cancers might be expected.

The 7th ESUI meeting will address these issues in detail and critically assess the role, performance and limits of emerging technologies in relation to image-guided approaches. Moreover, the meeting will provide detailed clinical knowledge regarding the application and use of these technologies. Examining these issues will close the gap between preliminary experiences in selected centres and the early and broad application of these technologies in daily practice.

The ESUI meeting precedes the 10th EMUC, an annual event which gathers experts from other specialties such as radiology, urology, nuclear medicine, pathology and medical oncology for a critical examination of multidisciplinary approaches in urological cancers. Taken together, the 7th ESUI meeting is the ideal platform for insightful updates on the latest developments in urological imaging in 2018.
