Following from a successful meeting in 2015, Dr Owen Arthurs (GOSH London) has decided to re-run this meeting on “Imaging in Suspected Physical Abuse”. The course is aimed at paediatric, general and neuro radiologists and radiographers who are involved in imaging in suspected physical abuse (inflicted injury, or non-accidental injury).

Educational aims and learning outcomes:

  • To provide an update on best imaging practice
  • To help understand the principles, general imaging approach and differential diagnosis for SPA
  • To highlight potential areas of controversy
  • To understand the role of the medical expert, court system and forensic practice

The day will consist of lectures from nationally recognised speakers, several of whom act as expert witnesses in the UK. These will include guidelines around body imaging (skeletal injuries) and neuroimaging, the current controversies, key differential diagnoses, issues around court appearances and court attendance, what has been learnt from post mortem imaging and forensic autopsy practice. Don’t miss it!
