General Information

Badges & Entry Tickets

As a security requirement, please remember to always wear your name badge within the congress premises to have access to the scientific sessions and social functions. Additionally, an entry ticket is required for

Banks & Foreign Exchange Offices

Credit Cards are accepted at most significant retailers, and the use of e-wallets is high here but it is helpful to have cash for smaller transactions. Banking hours are Monday through Friday, from 09:00 to 16:00. Currency exchange is also available at the airport, and find exchange rates here.

Certificate of Attendance

The certificate of attendance will only be sent to participants who have completed the Congress survey. The certificate will be sent after the closure of the survey, on Friday 30 August 2024.


The currency is the Ringgit Malaysia (MYR) in Malaysia, which comes in bills and coins.

Insurance and Liability

​It is recommended that participants obtain adequate insurance coverage for travel, health, and accidents before they depart from their countries of residence. The ISS/SIC as organisers cannot accept responsibility for personal injuries, loss of, or damage to private property belonging to the conference participants and accompanying persons.


​The official language of the meeting is English, and there is no simultaneous translation service provided. The official language in Malaysia is Malay/Bahasa.

Local Laws and Culture
Remember, the local laws apply to you as a visitor and it is your responsibility to follow them. Be sensitive to local customs, traditions and practices as your behaviour may be seen as improper, hostile or may even be illegal.

Malaysia is a multicultural but mainly Islamic country. You should respect local traditions, customs, laws and religions at all times and be aware of your actions to ensure that they don't offend, especially during the holy month of Ramadan or if you intend to visit religious areas.

Local Transportation

Kuala Lumpur has a developed public transport network. Buses, trains, trams and mass rail lines will take you almost anywhere in the city. KL public transport LRT & MRT operate six underground lines, and 2 tram lines. Most tickets should be a maximum of MYR 4.00 and a three day pass for MYR 25.00 For last mile connectivity there is also Grab, the regional version of Grab​

Taxi: Getting a taxi - there are a few different ways to find a taxi in KL:

  • Use a taxi app: several free mobile phone applications are available that allow you to book a taxi in KL, see how long it will take and how much it will cost, and give you the option to pay by card. These include Grab, and Air Asia Ride

  • Find a taxi stand: KL has many taxi stands throughout the city, where you can hop in a taxi.
